I received my ballot! I hope you did, too! Fill it out and return it on or before November 8th. I challenge you to talk to 10 of your neighbors, friends, and family members, and remind them of the importance of returning their ballot.
We have some very close races in our county and state. EVERY VOTE MATTERS! We are setting the tone for the next 4 years of leadership; your voice is important.
Matthew Langdon, our State Committeeman, attended an event in OR last week and forwarded this photo he took. Governor Youngkin, Republican Governor of VA, flew out to support Christine Drazan, an exceptional candidate for Governor of OR. Why do we care about OR?!? Great question. Because the leadership of WA and OR simply parrots the decisions coming out of CA. WE ARE NOT CA. By putting more Republicans into leadership positions, we can break this ludicrous cycle. Momentum in one state helps the other. The enthusiasm for the potential for Tiffany Smiley to unseat Patty Murray in WA gives energy to electing Christine Drazan as Governor in OR. This momentum, theses opportunities, are in our hands right now.
Candidates:
Tiffany Smiley, US Senate (check out www.PattyPriceHikes.com to find our more reasons to support Tiffany)
Dan Newhouse, US House of Representatives, Congressional District 4
Gina Mosbrucker and Chris Corry, WA State House, Legislative District 14
Bob Songer, Sheriff, www.ReElectBobSonger.com
Lori Zoller, County Commissioner
Heather Jobe or Joanne Chambers, Auditor
Renae Campbell, County Auditor
Billi Jean Bare, Assessor
The most common question I have been asked over the past several weeks (often with passion) is: WHY DID YOU ENDORSE ONE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE OVER ANOTHER? DO WE NOT SUPPORT ALL REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES?
The answer is simple: our Bylaws allow for it. Our mission is to elect good Republicans. In the case that more than one Republican is running, we support ALL Republicans, unless the Central Committee passes by â…” majority vote a motion to endorse one candidate over another.
These decisions are never easy, and they are followed by weeks and months of discussions, research, and consideration. The motion to endorse must be passed by â…” majority IN PERSON, not by zoom, email, or phone call.
The flip side of this coin is the recent Secretary of State primary in which we lost having a very qualified Republican candidate on the ballot because the Republican leadership (to include myself) did NOT stand up and endorse one of the 3 very qualified candidates. Republicans currently hold NONE of the 9 state level offices. How is this lack of fortitude working for us?
Remember that running for an elected office is not a duel to the death, this is not Hamilton. Running for office is closer to running a race, sprinting around a track. There are 2 runners who have trained in their specific methods and have qualified for the race. One will win, one will lose, but the cost of victory is not death to the other runner. The losing runner may have lost that particular race, but they certainly live to run again, should they so desire. You are welcome to like both runners, you may be related to the runners, you may have gone to school with the runners, but only one runner will win that race.
Sometimes circumstances require us to be bold, to lead, to choose; let us make that choice smartly and with confidence.
Reminders:
The next KCR meeting is Tuesday, November 15th, 6-8 pm at the Dallesport Community Center. This is a change in our normal meeting schedule due to the November 8th election deadline conflicting with our regular meeting.
Will you be tuning into election results? Then throw a Watch Party. Turn up your tv and invite friends and neighbors to watch with you. Make it a potluck, and you won’t even have to worry about making dinner that night. A little bit of community and warm food makes the world a better place.
