The Klickitat County Republican Central Committee has voted to endorse and support Sheriff Bob Songer in his re-election bid and Lori Zoller for County Commissioner, Pos 2. The Central Committee takes endorsing candidates very seriously, especially when there is a Republican opponent; these endorsements come after weeks of discussion and various forms of vetting. Both Sheriff Songer and Lori Zoller have the background and experience that sets them apart as the preferred candidates to lead our county.
We are fortunate to have a ballot dominated by Republican candidates. As a result, the KCR Central Committee also voted to financially support the following candidates: Representatives Gina Mosbrucker and Chris Corry, Sheriff Songer, Lori Zoller (County Commissioner), Billy Jean Bare (Assessor), Heather Jobe (Auditor) and Joanne Chambers (Auditor), Renae Campbell (County Clerk). At this time, the Central Committee has not endorsed either candidate for Auditor so we have agreed to offer equal financial support to each candidate.
There is no winner until all the ballots have been counted. Do you enjoy talking to people? Then reach out to your friends and neighbors and remind them to turn in their ballots. Do you like parties? Then please consider hosting a fundraiser/rally. Do you have funds but not any time? Then donate to the KCR. Are you a good writer? Then please submit Letters to the Editor in support of your favorite candidate(s). The Goldendale Sentinel has had prolific submissions disparaging our candidates; positive support to our candidates is much needed! Letters can be submitted by email to News@goldendalesentinel.com
At the State level, Tiffany Smiley, who is running against Senator Patty Murray, is polling within 3 percentage points, according to Trafalgar. This is unheard of in WA State. Tiffany is bringing national attention to our state and has the potential to unseat the 30 year incumbent. If we can shift the balance in the Senate, that means that Chuck Schumer also loses his seat as Senate Majority Leader. Let’s not lose by a percentage point or two, let’s win by a solid majority. That means that everyone must vote and ask their friends and neighbors to do the same.
